There also exists account sheets between Indians, traders, and the companies, power of attorney documents, wills, land acquisition documents, and legal case documents covering Florida, and what is now the Southeastern United States. The company was involved in trading goods with the native inhabitants of the southeastern U.S.,during Florida's British colonial period, and later through the second Spanish period, and eventually through acquisition by the U.S. The company's interests were so far reaching, and the company held such a huge monopoly over the Indian trade that its partners became major actors in the direction of Florida's future, as evidenced in many documents in this collection.
